Meet Scott Mindel: Putting People Before the Paycheck
For Scott Mindel, real estate is about much more than buying and selling houses. It’s about getting to know people, understanding what they truly need, and helping them find the home that feels right.
Born and raised in New Albany, Indiana, Scott spent his career as an Operations Supervisor with LG&E before retiring in 2023. His wife, Lora, was already a Realtor, and retirement presented the perfect opportunity for the two of them to work together.
“We decided it would be great to do it together,” Scott says.
Three years later, Scott has found that his favorite part of real estate is simple: meeting people and helping them buy their homes.
Finding the Right Fit at Nest
Before joining Nest Realty, Scott and Lora were with a much larger brokerage. While there were plenty of trainings and big numbers, Scott felt disconnected from the company.
Nest offered something different.
Scott was drawn to the brokerage’s focus on individual agents, providing them with the tools they need to be successful while keeping great service at the center of the business.
“It feels more like family,” he says.
That same personal approach carries over into the way Scott works with his clients. He isn't interested in simply getting a transaction to the closing table.
“I care about truly finding what works for each client,” Scott says. “It’s not about the paycheck for me. It’s about the right fit.”
His Advice for First-Time Buyers
Scott encourages first-time homebuyers to start preparing well before they're ready to purchase.
Start saving early, take your time when considering a home, and don't make a quick decision. And always have the house inspected.
Whether his clients are buying their first home, their next home, or something completely different, Scott and Lora are ready to help. As Scott puts it, “We do it all!”
When He's Not Selling Houses...
There's a pretty good chance you'll find Scott with a fishing rod in his hand.
He competes in bass fishing tournaments on the Ohio River, and owning a house on a lake is high on his bucket list. He'd also love the opportunity to fish Lake Guntersville.
When he's ready for a vacation, Scott and Lora love Florida's beaches, but Switzerland holds a special place in his heart. His grandparents were born there, and Scott describes visiting the country as fantastic.
Scott lives in Charlestown with Lora, his wife of 14 years. Together, they have three adult children and two granddaughters. He's also an active member and volunteer at Eastside Christian Church.
And then there's one fun fact that's pretty hard to top...
Scott had dinner with Michael Jordan in 1984.
Yes, that Michael Jordan. And even better, he has the pictures to prove it!
From helping clients find the right home to fishing the Ohio River and spending time with his family, Scott brings a down-to-earth, people-first approach to everything he does. For him, success in real estate isn't about the number of transactions. It's about helping people make a decision they'll be happy with long after closing day.
